Welcome to our Intro Free Motion Quilting series! We are so excited about this course so we can help give you the confidence to finish your quilts yourself on your  home sewing machine or longarm.

In the 28-video series we are going to teach you four basic quilting stitches using stencils to get your muscle memory down. Then we’ll teach you how to customize the stitches so you’ll have 18 different ways to quilt your tops, giving you an infinite number of combinations.

We’ll also have a show & tell for each quilt stitch to give you ideas how to use them on actual quilts, videos on how to use the stencils to mark your quilt, how to get started for the Quilt-As-You-Go and longarm machines, and how to assemble your samples into a Quilt-As-You-Go quilt if you are working on your domestic sewing machine.

We have created four reorderable quilt kits using solid fabrics from Northcott Colorworks. The richly-colored fabrics are fabulous to work with, and it will make it very easy to see your stitches and make your stitching the star or the show. You will get this pattern for FREE when you add it to your cart with the Free Motion Quilting kits OR the Quilting with Rulers 5-Pack Kit in the same order.

If you’re working on Free Motion Quilting, make sure you grab a stencil kit, sold separately, which contains the four stencils and pounce pad we are using to learn the four basic stitches.

If you’re working on Quilting with Rulers, make sure you grab a Quilting with Rulers 5-Pack Kit, which you can get for 10% OFF the retail price, or can shop for each individual ruler here.

The Intro to Quilting Sampler Quilting Pattern was developed to use with our Intro to Free Motion Quilting series AND our upcoming Intro to Rulerwork Series.

Each block features a single square of fabric that you can use to practice the stitch patterns we teach in the courses. If you are working on the longarm, you will assemble your top first and then quilt. If you are working on your domestic sewing machine, you will use the quilt-as-you-go method to assemble your blocks once you have completed all your stitching samples.

That way you have an actual lap quilt at the end of the course as opposed to a stack of samples and it can serve as inspiration for future projects as you go back to the quilt for ideas. Here’s a little bit about the quilting series:

Intro to Rulerwork (Beginning May 2, 2023)

Rulerwork is amazing because it can make you look like a better quilter than you are. You just need to learn how to keep your ruler foot in contact with your special quilting ruler at all times and you can recreate any shape perfectly every time.

In this 22-video series we will use five different rulers to teach you how to stitch-in-the-ditch, create perfectly straight lines, quilt arcs, circles, arches and waves. Then we’ll teach you how to use the rulers to create custom looks with each ruler so every quilt you make can have its own unique look.

Make sure you grab a Quilting with Rulers 5-Pack Kit, which you can get for 10% OFF the retail price, or can shop for each individual ruler here.
