Refraction – Paper Pattern

Quilt Addicts Anonymous original pattern by Stephanie Soebbing.

Create the look of a six-pointed star medallion quilt without any of the fuss. This quilt is made entirely from a jelly roll and coordinating yardage. The diamonds are strip pieced and assembled on the diagonal, so there are no fancy templates or Y-seams to deal with. You just need an equilateral triangle ruler like the Clearview Triangle and you’re ready to make this quilt.

Refraction is so simple, you can easily complete it in a weekend. The pattern is named for the phenomenon of light bending when it passes through an object. You may remember this effect from science glass when light appears as a rainbow of color when you look through a prism. The color changes in this quilt as it moves from the center of the star to the points made the name seem appropriate.

Finished size: 72.5″ x 81.5″
