We’ve done a Christmas Stocking tutorial every year as part of our 12 Makes of Christmas series and this is the easiest one yet.
The Super Simple Christmas Stocking just requires some cute Christmas fabric, batting and a walking foot. That’s it! Just layer it up in the right order (we tell you in the video and in the FREE pattern), cut out the stocking and sew.
There’s no piecing, no quilting, just fast and easy assembly that shows off your favorite holiday prints in all their glory.
I am a big fan of ugly sweaters, so I had to choose Chill by the Fire from Snow Day by Mister Domestic for Art Gallery Fabrics. The not so ugly sweaters make the perfect stocking body with a plaid check for the sleeve. It could not have turned out cuter.
If you are using a directional print like I did, you’ll want to get 2/3 yard for the body, but you can use just 1/2 yard if there is no up or down to your fabric. You’ll also need half a yard for the lining and a 1/4 yard for the sleeve and hanger. Make sure to get extra for the sleeve if you need to match anything, like I did for the plaid.
