Four Saturday sessions (see below). There will be homework in between courses.
Have you been drooling over Stephen West’s amazing patterns, but you’re afraid to tackle them alone? Quilt Addicts Anonymous is here for you!
In this four-session class we will knit West’s The Doodler shawl. When you complete this class, you will have a gorgeous and extremely easy-to-wear accessory, as well as experience with short rows, cabling, picking up stitches, applied i-cord edging, i-cord bind off, and a wee bit of lace.
In the first class you will learn how to make an i-cord, pick up stitches, work an applied i-cord, and begin the short-row “wedges” that form the main body of the shawl. Then you will return for the second session where you will begin the cable section of the top of the shawl, learning how to cross cables and create an applied edging. In the third session, we will cast off the second section with an i-cord bind-off, then pick up stitches and begin work on the third and final section short row lace of the shawl. We will also discuss how to block our shawls. At our final meeting, we will revel in our finished projects together!
This is an advanced knitting course. Students should know how to knit and purl, read a pattern, and be ready for some possibly challenging new techniques. Students will need to complete each section of the shawl between classes.
