Knit Your Own Mittens! with Courtney Walters

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 21

In this class you will learn how to knit mittens from the cuff up using the Waiting for Winter Mittens and Fingerless Mitts pattern by Susan B Anderson. As the name implies, this pattern includes variations for regular mittens and fingerless options.

The pattern is a fun, basic mittens pattern that is perfect for your first pair. It uses worsted weight yarn and has size options for adults ranging from small to XXL to fit older kids, teens, women and men.

There also is a companion pattern with kids sizes, the Little Waiting for Winter Mittens. The kids pattern includes baby thumb-less mitts for 6-12 months and 12-24 months, and kid-size mittens for 2-4, 4-8 and 8-12 years old. You can use either pattern in class.

Students should already know how to knit, purl and cast on in the round. Students should come to class with the cuff already knit, so we can start right in on the thumb gore and the split for the thumb in the class. When you are finished, you will know how to knit a fabulous pair of mittens with plenty of time to make them for the whole family this winter!
